Community Sports
Since launching in 2022 with our Learn to Play Hockey program and the Jays Care initiative, we’ve been working to bring sports and active living to our community members of all ages, from kids to seniors. Our programs focus on skill-building, fun, and promoting healthy lifestyles, while also teaming up with departments like Health and Education to support overall well-being. We’re excited to see our sports programs grow and continue offering new opportunities for everyone to get involved, stay active, and learn.
2025 Sports Programs
Current Programming: What we are offering in 2025, with more to come soon! Check back frequently for announcements on future programming.
- Learn to Play:
Our Learn to Play programs offer free, seasonal opportunities for youth to try a variety of sports in a fun and supportive environment. What began as a hockey program has grown to include multiple sports, helping kids discover new interests, build confidence, and connect with their community. As we continue to grow, we aim to bring Learn to Play to all WTCI communities—providing access not only to sport, but to cultural learning and collaboration with other WTCI departments and local partners. - Jays Care:
Through the Jays Care Foundation WTCI hosts a summer baseball program for youth from our communities aged 5-13. Summer 2025 Registration and more info coming soon. - Annual Turtle Island Tee Off Fundraiser:
The Annual Turtle Island Tee-Off Fundraiser is a golf tournament that supports our Wolastoqey Youth Athlete Sponsorship (can this be a clickable link to a page for the sponsorship).
