Justice Programs

WTCI is proud of the expanding portfolio of Justice programs dedicated to promoting fair and proportionate justice while also seeking to change the experiences of our Wolastoqey communities and members in contact with the criminal justice system in New Brunswick. Our programs are designed to empower our 6 wolastoqey communities and incorporate our traditional Wolastoqey values of Justice.  On this page, you’ll find details about our current programming and preview the exciting new initiatives we’re preparing to launch.

Programs Include

  • Indigenous Courtworker Program
    Indigenous Courtworkers (ICWs) support Indigenous peoples to receive fair and equitable treatment within the Canadian criminal justice system. For more informaion or to request the services of an Indigenous Courtworker or for questions related to the program, please contact: icw@wolastoqey.ca 
  • Gladue Program
    he Gladue Program in New Brunswick assists Indigenous offenders at the bail and sentencing stages of their criminal matters by providing the court with a detailed report of any systemic factors which may have contributed to their involvement in the criminal offence (also known as a Gladue Report).
