About Us

About Us

The Wolastoqey Tribal Council Inc. (WTCI) was founded with a clear vision: to empower the Wolastoqey communities in New Brunswick. Recognizing the need for an organization dedicated to addressing specific community needs, advocating for equitable access to services, and preserving our rich cultural heritage, WTCI has grown into a resilient network that uplifts and supports its member communities.

Since our inception, we have focused on capacity-building projects, training programs, and wholistic community support services, all while fostering collaboration with various organizations to fill gaps and enhance community resilience. Our current member communities include: Matawaskiye, Bilijk, Sitansisk, Welamukotuk, and Wotstak.

Our Mandate

At WTCI, our mandate is deeply rooted in addressing the needs and priorities of our communities. We strive to fill gaps, enhance existing capacities, and facilitate collaboration among our Nation. By consistently engaging with and listening to community feedback, we tailor our programs and services to align with the values and goals of our people. Our foundation is built on the belief that our communities know what is best for them, and we are here to support and amplify their voices every step of the way.

Our Services

We provide a wide range of services designed to support Wolastoqey communities in various aspects of life. Our offerings span education, health, emergency management, governance, employment and training, sports, Jordan’s Principle and justice. These services are continually evolving to meet the changing needs of our communities.

Service Delivery

Our services are delivered with a community-focused approach. We prioritize accessibility, respect, and cultural relevance in all we do. Whether providing health navigation services, advocating for patients, or promoting cultural education, our team is dedicated to meeting the unique needs of each community member we serve.
