Project:

The Wolastoqey Tribal Council (WTCI) is seeking proposals from individuals interested in managing the Wolastoqey Health Information Project. This is a 1 year project, beginning January 2024.

As a new initiative, WTCI Health is seeking to explore the development of a system for the collection and analysis of culturally-relevant health information. This health information system must uphold the principles of Ownership, Control, Access, and Possession (OCAP) in accordance with Wolastoqey values. To achieve these goals, the Project Manager would be expected to map current sources of health information relevant to Wolastoqiyik, develop and initiate community engagement, assist with policy development to protect health information, and identify ongoing health data needs.

Expectations:

  • The Project Manager must be able to travel to the five communities serviced by WTCI.
  • Foster relationships with communities and collaborations with relevant organizations.
  • Strong background in research, writing, and budgets.
  • Develop and implement an engagement plan, that includes engaging with the five communities serviced by WTCI and relevant organizations.
  • Build capacity for WTCI Health to undertake future health-related research and FNIGC funding opportunities.
  • Develop a work plan, budget, and other materials relevant to ongoing health information needs.

Required Items for inclusion in the proposal:

  • In your proposal, please state your experience with project management, First Nations health data, working with First Nations communities and underserved groups, and any other relevant experience.
  • Provide a proposed budget and resources.
  • State what is needed from WTCI to fulfill the project.

* Preference will be given to individuals with an established record of working collaboratively with Indigenous communities.
